My family is made up of his-mine-ours, but we consider them all ours.

There's my wonderful, Godly husband Greg, who works in the transportation industry. Due to an incident in November 2015, Greg is now a paraplegic but doing well. He was shot in the back during an attempted armed robbery in a rest stop coming home from a Thanksgiving family trip.

Son Sam is 22, has autism, ADHD, epilepsy and bipolar disorder. It's a struggle, but also one with blessings -- often disguised -- but blessings nonetheless. I love to see Sam with his hand raised in worship during a praise song in church. Sam lives in a group home near us.

Son Jacob, 19, is a college student who lives at home. He has a heart of gold -- loves working with kids at a therapeutic equine center and playing music. He plays guitar (acoustic, electric, bass), tenor and alto saxophone. He is a huge help around the house with Greg.

Ellison, 18, is a beautiful young lady who splits her time between us and her biological mother in another state. She was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when she was four years old. She's become a very responsible young woman who is a college freshman in Pennsylvania.

Laura, 6 years old, is a spitfire of a beautiful little  girl who loves horses, princesses and dinosaurs. She loves Jesus and can be heard regularly singing "Jesus Loves Me" and the Newsboys' song "God's Not Dead." She is a sweetheart. She suffers from chronic migraines and takes a preventative medication for them. She's in the first grade, and although she's in public school we utilize homeschool models and materials to supplement her learning.

I am a work-at-home mom who struggles between doing housework, blogging and volunteering as a grantwriter. The incident in which Greg was paralyzed has kicked up an ancient bout of PTSD related to previous domestic violence with my ex, so that's a struggle. Laura gets her migraines from my side of the family; I've been diagnosed with about six different kinds. I also have autoimmune diseases. These things play a huge part in who I am and what I do; but this I know: God is sovereign.

We also have two cats that were born in our home on April 6, 2014. Henry is a solid charcoal gray tomcat who is very spunky, and his sister Rosie, a tannish-brown sweetheart, loves Jacob immensely. We have a very large dog named Katie who's a mix of Great Pyrenees, Karakachan and mareema -- all giant livestock herding breeds. My mother, Martha, lives nearby and we see her often.

I hope that you will find encouragement in this blogsite. If you are interested in me coming to your church and speaking on special needs, living life as the spouse of a disabled person, domestic violence, blended families -- any of these with a direct focus on God's provision and glory -- I will be happy to talk with you. Just send me an email here and check out the "speaking" section.

May God bless you richly as you explore this site!
